Nikon Z7 field tested by Indian photographer Radhakrishnan Chakyat

Gambar
Radhakrishnan Chakyat , a professional photographer with experience of over 30 years (based in Mumbai, India), is the brainchild behind the Youtube channel Pixel Village . Pixel Village recently got the chance to review the new Nikon Z7 full frame mirrorless camera, and put it through its paces. They made a very thorough field test review that once again highlighted that the camera is really well rounded in every way, delivering great images. You may also check Chakyat's website with portfolio and his Bollywood celebrity shots . He's a great photographer knowing his craft well (unlike some spec sheet commentators ). Radhakrishnan Chakyat's review of the Nikon Z7 I believe the Nikon Z6 will be even better for me, because I don't need such high-resolution (and I think many people will feel the same), instead the Z6 will probably perform better in low light, especially for video, making it really a great choice for many modern hybrid shooters.

Images from the Nikon Z7 by Taiwanese photographer Dean Cheng

Gambar
Renowned Taiwanese photographer Dean Cheng has recently published some beautiful photos shot with the Nikon Z7. The images are part of a promotional campaign he shot for Nikon Taiwan. Check out the images below, and scroll to the very bottom for more links, among them links to high definition versions of some of these photos. Unfortunately he did not make any RAWs available, nevertheless, the camera seems to be really performing well in low light. Of course the photographer is also excellent, and master of his domain. The Nikon Z Mirrorless system proves to be a really amazing system, and far more interesting to me as compared to Canon EOS R or Fuji's minor crop-camera update, the X-T3. Exposed: Tony Northrup's alternative facts on dual SD card slots

Gambar
I have been a critic of Tony Northrup , a popular YouTube photography gear reviewer and spec sheet analyst, for some time. His channel which has morphed into a money making machine, has very little to do with the art of photography (check his portfolio and you will realize that he's not really a master of his domain). In his videos however he's often portraying himself as a teacher of photography, and selling various books on that topic. Unfortunately his books sell, because many people are naive enough to think that a high YouTube subscriber count equals to high photography skills. Nothing could be further from the truth here. Being the Peter Popoff of photography, he's often promoting the most expensive gear (something I have written about here ) possibly to collect more kickbacks from the hot links in his video descriptions. Some of his camera "reviews", especially on Sony , have indicated a positive bias, while he's been overly critical of Nikon and Fuji ...

Analysis of Nikon, Canon, Sony and Fuji, and the interchangeable lens camera market

Gambar
In September 2018 Nikon and Canon entered the mirrorless full frame market. Nikon with their Z7 and Z6, two identical bodies with slightly different specs, and Canon with their single EOS R camera. Both Nikon and Canon designed completely new lens mount systems for these cameras, promising faster and sharper glass in the future. While these cameras are no slouches, they are not flagships, but they certainly come with a premium price tag. Sony, the market leader in full frame mirrorless cameras is for the first time facing real competition, and is most likely preparing to counter. Rumor has it that  Panasonic is entering the full frame mirrorless market as well, so things will definitely get interesting. Then there’s also Fuji with their crop-sensor cameras popular as second bodies among enthusiasts who typically shoot with real cameras from Nikon and Canon. What do these launches tell about the companies Generally, the entrance of Nikon and Canon into a serious mirrorless game tell...

Excellent Nikon Z7 reviews by Ricci Chera

Gambar
Ricci Chera is a member of the Nikon School UK , a team of people working for Nikon, that is conducting workshops and seminars in London. Privately he is a landscape and wildlife photographer (here is his Instagram ). He's recently started his own YouTube channel "Ricci Talks" , and has shared several video reviews of the new Nikon Z7 camera with real world testing. Let me share them with you here. 1) Nikon Z7 & Z6 Size Comparison A nice size comparison of the new Nikon mirrorless cameras. 2) Nikon Z7 first look with Size Comparisons The camera is quite smaller than the D850, but not as tiny as some Olympus cameras for example. It's about D7200 size. 3) Nikon Z7 & Z6 Weather Sealing The camera is perfectly weather sealed same as Nikon's high end DSLRs. Big plus point in my opinion. 4) Nikon Z7 Battery Life Tests He shows that he had over 2 hours of 4k video recording on a single battery, and 1945 shots with 6% of the battery left during his wild life pho...

Excellent Nikon Z7 reviews by Stephan Wiesner (in German)

Gambar
Stephan Wiesner is a German Youtuber with close to 100k subscribers, who is reviewing photography gear on his channel. He's also writing reviews on his blog , and publishing photography magazines in German language. He's also a landscape photographer, and is using Sony A7ii, Sony A6000 as well as Nikon D750. He likes all those three cameras for different reasons. Nikon Germany has recently approach him to review the new Nikon Z7 mirrorless full frame camera. He published several videos, from unboxing to real-life usage. Since the videos are in German, I will be translating some of his conclusions into English for you for a better understanding. One big difference between Stephan Wiesner and most American Youtube gear reviewers (like Tony Northrup ) is that there's a full disclosure in the video - watermarked! On the left side it says "Unterstützt von Nikon" - "Supported by Nikon" . That is referring to the fact, that he has not bought the camera, but g...

The downfall of The Angry Photographer - lost all credibility

Gambar
I used to find Ken Wheeler aka  The Angry Photographer , a Kentucky based hobbyist YouTuber, quite entertaining. In addition to that, I found he offered a great value when it comes to old Nikkor lens recommendations. I started to watch him in early 2015, when I purchased my first Nikon DSLR, and was looking for some nice cheap lenses. He used to be the guy who went against the mainstream, and recommended old cheap used AI/AI-S and D-Series lenses by Nikon, instead of the expensive new modern lenses. He was controversial from the start, and often obnoxious in his videos, but that was fine. I didn't mind it, it was kind of a quirky infotainment, which often delivered a nice chuckle. As months passed by he started to put his face more in front of the camera (his first videos were anonymous), and his channel grew steadily in subscribers and video views. He started to get more and more haters and critics, but at the same time also more and more fans, because he was not only reviewing l...

Twitter reactions to Nikon Z Mirrorless cameras

Gambar
I've collected some interesting reactions to the new Nikon Mirrorless camera. It seems that Nikon really created a great product, that impressed the masses. I really look forward to test the camera out in the Taipei Nikon store at Syntrend. I'm very interested to get the Nikon Z6 some time in the future. To the people bitching about 1 XQD slot on the Nikon Z6 & Z7. I’m sorry that Nikon chose a far superior card system that’s already 2x faster than any Sony sd card and will accept CFExpress cards that are going to be 10X faster.... #nikon #NikonMirrorless #nikonz7 — JJ Phoenix (@thatcatJJ) August 23, 2018 Lack of a dual card slot is not a big deal for me. Though my D800s have dual card slots I’ve only ever used the SD slot for years. My a7S, has only one card slot & I get by just fine. I would not complain if the #NikonZ had dual card slots but I’m not complaining that it doesnt — Adam Peariso 🇨🇦 (@Adamski) August 23, 2018 Do you regular use the 2nd slot for back ...
