G-Shock MTG-B1000-1A unboxing

Gambar
The MTG-B1000-1A is a new watch from the MT-G series (a.k.a. Metal Twisted G), which was launched in July 2018. The MT-G series is already a few years old, but this watch is different in a few ways: The B in the B1000 stands for Bluetooth connectivity (there's a smartphone app, which can be connected to the watch, and allows you to manipulate some features, or track some data). So this is the first Bluetooth series within the MT-G range. Secondly, the bands are made of resin (previous generation features brushed metal bracelets). And lastly, the dial was redesigned (the sub-dials are shifted to the left, while they were previously spread out across the whole dial). Another great thing about this series is their price: They are cheaper than the old models which could cost several 1000 USD - they retail for 800 USD (silver-dial) and 900 USD (black-dial) respectively. How I bought my MTG-B1000-1A I bought my MTG-B1000-1A a few days ago at the Taipei G-Shock store. Initially I sa...

G-Shock MUDMASTER GG-1000RG-1A review

Gambar
The G-Shock MUDMASTER GG-1000RG-1A is a Rose Gold version of the Two Sensor Mudmaster series, or the so called better value for money Mudmaster ( see my comparison with the more expensive triple-sensor GWG-1000 series). The watch retails 10,500 NTD in Taiwan (around 350 USD), but I got mine with discount, it cost me 8800 NTD, which is roughly 290 USD. I'm very satisfied with this watch. It has a lot of features, maybe more than I need. I never use the compass for example, same is true for the temperature, which I feel it's not so reliable. I basically just use world time, because it's very useful during my travels (I'm on a plane every month, and work in several time zones). The features I miss with this watch is Tough Solar and Multi Band 6, but I can still accept that Casio decided to remove this to enable a lower price point. The front dial. Side view. On the wrist. Another wrist shot. The band is awesome. A portrait. The MUDMASTER GG-1000RG-1A is a true G-Shock, t...

CASIO G-Shock MUDMASTER comparison: GWG-1000 vs. GG-1000

Gambar
The MUDMASTER is a sub-series of Casio G-Shock watches that falls under the umbrella of the Master of G Collection (other current sub-series in this collection are called Gulfmaster , and Gravitymaster , as well as the older Mudman, Frogman, Gulfman, Rangeman, and Riseman). Within MUDMASTER there are again two sub-series, the more expensive and premium GWG-1000 watches that come with a triple sensor, and the cheaper and less fancy GG-1000 watches that come with a dual sensor. Who is MUDMASTER for? MUDMASTER is a watch, that is meant for women and men, that are having jobs, or active lives out in the nature. If you're working in gutters, coal mines, or do extreme hiking, this will be the right watch for you. The good thing is, that Casio offers two MUDMASTERS for two different budgets. The nearly twice as expensive GWG-1000 series comes with sapphire glass, and additional features, but is it worth to pay double for that? Let's explore this further in the verdict at the end, ...

List of G-Shock square watches

Gambar
No doubt Casio had a winner when they created the "Gravitational Shock" watch in 1983. The long name was soon changed to "G-Shock", and the rest is history. Designed by the Japanese engineer Kikuo Ibe, his goal was to "have a 10-year battery life, be water resistant to 10 bar, and survive a 10m fall onto a hard surface." That's how the DW-5000C was born in the early 1980s, and officially launched in April 1983 . Today G-Shocks are a huge fashion icon, and popular all over the world. In this post I want to focus on the history of the so called "squares", which as the name implies, come with the square classic design that started it all. 1) DW-5000 Series | 1983  1. DW-5000C-1A 2. DW-5000C-1B 2) DW-5200 Series | 1984 This series was launched in 1984 and is essentially the same as the original G-Shock, that was launched the year before. It has the same 240 module and a liquid crystal display. The nickname of this watch is "The Hero" ,...

CASIO G-Shock G-5600E-1DR review

Gambar
The CASIO G-Shock G-5600E-1DR is my latest timepiece acquisition, and I'm pretty impressed with it. I was never into G-Shocks, but I've recently fell in love with the squares, and decided to get my first one. I was heavily researching G-Shock squares before making my buying decision, and I chose this one, because it's the only Tough Solar model without Multi Band 6, which I felt was nothing that I really need and pay more for it. However I wanted the solar charging, so this was the best choice for me. I bought it via PC Home , it cost me 3060 NTD (around 99 USD). It's not the cheapest square, but also not the most expensive (they can go up to 300 USD), for me it was a nice sweet spot. Check out my pictures and read about my impressions and experience below: A side image of the G-5600E-1DR. The back side is pretty solid. The side view. One downside: The readability is not good. The rubber strap is pretty sturdy. The buckle is very nice. The illumination is pretty nice. ...
